Tawoo, here in Mass. you need to have a "hoisting" license from the Dept. of Public Safety (costs 115.00 total) and the cost of insurance was $350-400 for a landscape policy that only covers you to 3 feet underground. The quotes for 1 million liability for the backhoe ranged between $1100-2000. We have Dig Safe that locates underground utilities. You are responsible for privately installed underground utilities such as electric, cable, phone, septic and water lines. It can be profitable but be prepared for the unexpected.
