Boy I must have it made! My wife hates the tractor, doesen't even know how it works and has no interest. Won't drive the Austin Healey, not even the Porsche 911. Will ride in the Porsche, but hates to shift. She is happy with the Jeep GC or the mini van. Does all her flower garden and yard work and leaves piles for me to pick up with the loader. There are some days I wish she would learn how to do some of these things for herself. She won't cut the yard because of the 3pt. finish mower, says if we had a belly mower she might consider it. But I think its just an excuse. The kids are too small and I get stuck doing all the work. At least I don't have to do the inside cleaning!!

Von, I don't know whether we're luckier or unluckier./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif My wife won't have anything to do with tractors either. Now of course my youngest daughter and her husband are always looking for an excuse to "help" me by driving the tractor.

I'd take any help I can get! My grandfather would cut my dad's yard when he was alive. So when dad retired I said it was a good tradition that should be kept alive in grandpa's memory. He laughed and said my yard (5 ac.) was way too big and that he would rather play golf, plus he has his own 2 ac. to cut now. I'm waiting for my son, (he's 10 now) to get big enough to start cutting the yard.

Von: I say put the boy to work! My son's 10 and he started using the riding mower this year. He's physically large enough and strong enough to control it (it's a JD425), we had to wait until he was heavy enough because it's got a seat switch (that I'm not willing to tamper with!) . He loves it. If you wait until he's 12 or 13 then you have to force them to do the mowing (I've got one of them too!) The kids aren't the gentlest on the equipment though - that's why I kept the riding mower vs. getting a finish mower for the compact tractor.

My son is more than willing but he is running two years behind in his growth so he is the oldest in his class but the smallest. I was the same way. I was 5'6" in high school and grew 6" my freshmen year of college. Both my kids are late bloomers, my son has most of his baby teeth still. Better to rot those out on candy than the next set! I'm sure that he will be willing to help when he is big enough.

Yep, Von, I do like for my daughter and son-in-law to come visit; they're both good workers and welcome to ride that tractor all they want to. And I'm beginning to get a little help from an 11 year old grandson, too./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Ya'll think you have it bad...I made a realy bad mistake a couple of weeks ago..I siad honey..you know when I get a tractor I could put you a narrow track around the property for your dirt bike and four wheeler..(trying of course to convince her of the need for something bigger than an over grown lawnmower)..Later that week after it sank in she says you know they do look like a lot of fun.../w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Maybe I should go and test drive them with you to make sure you get one I feel comfortable on..../w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif..I think I may aready have a fight on my hands and we havn't even bought one yet...

The good thing for me when it comes to tractor shopping my wife says get what you need because I don't want you coming in the door after a day of work. The bad thing is she knows I'm going to get a hst that could lead to trouble.
