my girlfriend has one on order....we love it. i had a 3.7 liberty for a work car a couple of years back. i beat the tar out of it for 2 years, put 85k miles on it. the only prob. was that i only got 16-17 mpg.

plus we can not have diesel delivered to the house!

Only 5000 CRD's in the US this year. Hopefully more next year. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tevi: I was told by my VW dealer that the TDI Tourags were very rare also, and were available in one "trim" level near the $80K mark. What did you order, are there more (fewer) options to get a less expensive vehicle? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I looked online at the CRD's and was suprised they didn't post better mileage. I decided a while back I would keep driving our Isuzu Trooper ( 1995 with 110k miles ) until I could get a diesel suv that would post some decent mileage numbers. I was really hoping the CRD would do that but so far the mpg isn't very impressive.

I would love to get a Jetta or Passat TDI....that 45 - 50 mpg would be great on my current 30 or so mile commute each way. But it isn't cost effective to go buy a $20k vehicle to replace my current ( paid for ) one just yet.

It looks like I am spending $7 a day on fuel right now with the Trooper. If I got a TDI vehicle and could get 50 mpg, I would spend $2.50 a day. So....I would save $4.50 a day.

The $100 bucks I would save a month wouldn't cover the new car payment, higher insurance, higher taxes, sales tax, etc. Ahh well. Guess I will wait until the Trooper dies and I am forced to replace it.

Sorry to ramble on, but it gave me a chance to work out the numbers and prove to myself it wasn't cost effective, thanks!

That is the one that I was thinking of...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif However, as is being pointed out in another thread some feel that a car can be bought for $100 over dealer invoice and all arrangements done by email...... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What did you order, are there more (fewer) options to get a less expensive vehicle? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif )</font>The thingt that makes the V10 rare is the fact that the USA is the fourth largest market for VW.The demand for the V10 is so great that the US only got like 2600.I ordered mine a 1 1/2 years ago and it didn't get here until June of last year.The problem was that when I ordered it there was no price available.I ordered it with every option that was available.The sticker price was $65k.The wife said no way.I haven't stopped crying.The 05' have been put on hold because the the exhaust has to be changed due to EPA failure.This may increase the demand for the V10.It wouldn't suprise me that a dealer wanted to get 80k.O4's were only to be sold in the midwest and southThe 05's were to be sold in the east and west.There are few options on the V10 alot of options come standard

$30k for the Libby diesel is a bit much, but at least its in the neighborhood. I'm going to test one out tomorrow, and I'll submit my musings if anyone is interested. 27mpg highway is what's on the sticker, but I think with a little help that number will grow considerably. (Clean up the intake soundproofing, loosen up the exhaust flow, kill the EGR, etc. I love Wisconsin!)

I was surprised that the TDI Tuareg was listed at only something like 16 city, 22 highway. (what did your's say, Tevi?) My Cummins does that good.
