As to how a person act or reacts to a Accident,I had a neighbor that had know each other for 50+ years, also a mid 50's Model 40 "T"John Deere with a box blade on rear and from my drive way saw him receive a 20 yard truck of gravel for improving his drive. knew he had no equipment and he was going to level the gravel with a hand rake, went over to him and offered the tractor and he accepted and was fimuliar with this tractor as having borrowed before. While I was out of state was contacted that he had turned this tractor over and the steering wheel had crushed his chest, looking at the location after the accident he had also decided to move some dirt where a stump had been pushed down by a dozer and probally watching the box blade ran the left rear tire up onto the stump flipping the tractor, Now I do not use the Model 40,cannot sell because everyone that comes to look at it knows about the accident then don't want the tractor,so I have a tractor shed queen, rebuilt, looks good, runs good and useless to me.Purchased a Kubota after this accident and the dealier didn't want the 40 either. His widow still lives next door say's she doesn't blame my loaning the tractor. I still would prefer the neighbor as a friend than a memory.
I know Safety is the issue, this tractor was built 30 years before the roll-over bars and never had seat belts, designed to be able to stand while operating, and do not know what he was doing prior to accident.
But it caused me to purchase all of the safety equip. available on a tractror for my use. se'ya ken
