I suspect just to see if he still could. He hasn’t been on tractor in about a year, since he mowed some last May or June. At least he was just on the flat near the house.

I think that it is still impressive.

Yesterday my brother mowed some at the farm. Later when he was mowing the yard, Dad went out to see why the tractor was missing, my brother had parked it in the shade. Then Dad wanted him to mow the back field next. Lol

Flashback to 2012, and one of the old Pipe gates. This is a remnant of the old road back to the old log house at the back of our farm. Dad had used old gasline pipes to make a gate. A wire loop in the posts at each end held the pipe, it used 3 or 4 pipes, so to open the gate, you had to manually remove the pipes and lay to the side. What a PITA, but was used for infrequent places to get access. I think dad put barbed wire across them later. I recall 2 locations that had these. This one is now overgrown in multiflora roses so thick you can't get to it.

We used to have many similar gateways on the farm, two fence posts on each side with wood cleats nailed on each pair of post and wooden poles to slide in. We called them barways.

Same area in front of the house, big change from last pic from 1977. The lower field has grown up, used to be pasture that got mowed every year. I remember rabbit hunting in that field.
