Lifespan of a newer Deere tractor - how long do you expect your tractor to last?

I'm still trying to figure out how you can use a tractor hard and get 10,000 hours out of a set of tires ???

Lots of grass or mud, so nothing particularly hard on tires. That, and they started as R1's and now they're very nearly slicks!

Personally, I can't believe he hasn't punctured or cut one in all these years!

If it is any help. My BX is 11 years old with 1300hrs. My friends Kubota is 35 years old and still mows 10 acres and clears 900ft of grave drive.
Proper maintenance should get you a tractor that will last a couple of lifetimes for simple home maintenance.
Some on here have over 8000hrs on their machines. Look for proven engine designs and heavy solid frames.

BTW my neighbor has a 1984 John Deere 318 and 100.

We have an old 1973 JD 2130 at the farm...close to 6000 hours and still running strong.
My brother still use my grand father's 1966 David Brown 990...the meter stopped working at 7256 hours many, many years ago.
Preventive maintenance is the key.

I'll be serious now....

I bought a new tractor of a reputable brand and dealer so as not to wonder how long this thing is going to last. I'm of such an age that I had the money (finally to buy new) and was tired of keeping all my old worn out stuff working. Thus my XXXXX brand tractor should out last me....or did I miss the point?

End of story.:)

A Deere bought today will likely need no more than scheduled maintenance for maybe the first 15 years and couple thousand hours. You would be hard pressed to even replace a radiator hose. From a sheer hours standpoint, I don't think you could wear it out in a lifetime or two. Maybe the starter but not much else. Use synthetic oil after you get to 100 hours or so.

Tractor makers, and especially Deere generally use proven engines and designs and rarely have problems. Same with most of the drive trains.

I'm in the Midwest and am aware of 1960's Deeres that have 15,000-17,000 hours on the original engine and drive train and have never been taken apart. Lots are in the 10,000-12,000 hour range and still sell for surprisingly high amounts of money. Just my two cents.

Seems the subject of this thread is about Deere tractors. Why are all the non-Deere posts showing up? wannabe's maybe? :D

I think the Deere line holding high resale value is answer enough for the subject in question.

But I also think the availability of parts is the answer to how long they will last. All too often, an important part can be listed as NLA. I understand the economics of keeping some parts on the shelves in inventory, but modern tooling and mfg. should make it possible to turn out another part if not on the shelf.

Sure but you will pay for it.

We had a 52 8n but with a weak 3 pt and other weak features such as the PTO and no loader we bought a 2010 Mahindra 3616 cab hst with loader. What a difference.

The new tractor just has a lot more to offer.

Well, I read the original post and the OP was asking how long others expected their machines to last.

Better than having to junk a good tractor or have to part it out, IMO. ;)
