Yeah, hear you... On these early models the arms just slip on and off. One bolt, a washer and slide off. But for the grease I will get all over me and everything else probably easier to leave them on. Just glad this project is coming to a conclusion. Want to see the outcome!

Glad that worked for you yea that gasket on mine was the hardest part of the job. I think Mine was put on with epoxy I got the last of it of with a single edge razor blade scraper. Before putting the cover on get 4 bolts that will screw in holes and cut the heads off they will help line the cover up and keep the gasket in place. Did anyone tell you NO POOK ON THE GASKET? :)

Great idea! Will have to get some grade 3 bolts and hack them off. Yeah, no goop for me. I think mine was previously put on with epoxy also... Scraper and wire wheel for me. Using a CNH gasket which is more "rubberish" for the re-install as opposed to the paper gasket that came with the Tisco cover overhaul kit.

Got the new friction disc and got it installed yesterday. Now on to adjustments. I am not clear on where to position the touch control to take the gap measurements for adjusting. It looks like ( the I&T drawing) that the touch control is right where the bolt for the quadrant "cage" is. The call it a "cam stop" in the manual. But clearly not the lever stop that is adjustable.

So should the touch control be all the way up or down to measure, or just touching the nut on each end?

My I&T manual says the touch control lever should be 3/4in down from the top of the slot that stop slides in.

Thanks Carl! Funny our I&T manuals are different. This is for a hundred series, correct?

Sorry thought it was an 8n you were working on after looking at pictures it's clearly not an 8N.

Thought I would tie this thread out for future searches.

I adjusted the position control with the touch control lever touching the lower bolt that holds the quadrant together.

Put everything back together and the resolution is wonderful! The arms move when you move the touch control. Very responsive!

Below is a picture I posted on another forum, before the repair. Note the position of the mower in relation to the touch control.

And here is how it looks after the pin replacement and adjustment.

Thanks to all for their input and great ideas. The old girl is working pretty good now!
