I've had a chance to put about 3 hourmeter hours on my new-to-me L2250. I've got a 5' cutter on it and have been mowing bahaya (sp?)grass. The little rascal just won't stall! I've had to learn how to hold on...It's a little more bouncy than my 1520 John Deere was, BUT it out- maneuvers the big tractor by a long shot, and that is what I was going for. I've used it long enough to want to slow down, or smooth out, the "up" speed on the lift. Just a slight upward pull on the lever and the lift raises so fast that it jerks the tractor. The knob under the seat slows/stops the downward motion but has no effect on the up speed. I can't find another adjustment. Any ideas? Is it because the attachmet is too heavy? It doesn't raise the unweighted front off the ground.

Is a dealer the best/only place to get owner's and service manuals?

Wen...I updated my profile. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gene - There isn't a speed adjustment for upward travel. It could be that the implement is a little heavy, but for the most part, that's just the way they work.

Try adjusting the top link where the 3 point will pick up the front of the mower and just barely clears the tail wheel of the mower off the ground.

Since lift speed is not adjustable, you have to learn to "feather" that lever and/or back off on the engine RPMs.

GeneP-Wish the up speed would ajust. Your dealer can get the owner/service manuals or try Carver Equipment. Numbers of people have ordered their manuals there. Plan on around a $100 for both.

Thanks for the info. I'll try lengthning the top link some more. I'm sure I'll get the "feel" for it with more use.

You could add an adjustable hydraulic flow control to the line. These limit the GPM of hydraulic fluid through the orifice, hence limiting the speed. Northern has 3/8 port valves for 24.99.

I suppose the valve would restrict the flow similar to a water faucet? Anybody here ever tried it, or is familiar with the system to know if has potential to cause negative effects? It would have to be put between the power steering and the lift hydraulcs so as not to effect steering.

Is this system open or closed center? What is the maximum pressure?

I would spend some time getting used to it first. Never had to do that to a 3 point. Usually the problem is just the opposite. Does it have a draft control. If so be sure it is set to maximum force required and that your top link is in the hole for minimal draft control.

The dealer said it didn't have a draft control. The only control valves I can find on it are the single lever position control and the down speed adjustment under the seat.

I'm not going to rush into any changes. I'm just an old kid with a new toy, and full of questions. I've ordered owners and shop manuals.
