Several years ago, I remember seeing a receiver hitch that attached to the 3 point where there was no toplink as it was part of the hitch and pivoted as the arms went up. I believe there was a second "arm below it that pivoted in sync to keep the attachment point level.

This design increased the lifting range of the device.

I am considering building something like this, and was looking for this post to compare it to what I have in my mind.

I don't remember what it is called, and all of the search terms I have tried have come up empty.

I also remember concern that this would put stress on the toplink in directions it was not intended, and just wanted to see what everyone had to say before attempting a build.

Does anyone know what I am talking about or could point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Here is a basic drawing in paint of what I have in mind.

Same idea as a post hole digger boom, but shorter arm.

Also, some 3pt loaders work that way.

Here's more:

You could put on a trailer mover instead of a bale spear.

I saved this picture in my projects file. It came from Omni Mfg, when I bought their Transformer 3 point hitch.

And a hydraulic one:

What are you wanting to build?

Here is an other way to do it - might spawn an idea. I haven't thought it all the way thru but maybe if you had a fork on the end of the lift bar like lower lift arms and you used a normal top link but longer you could get more lift for your mower with a simple mechanism

Exactly what you are showing in the first picture is what I am going for. I have a set of log tongs, and even when just using a change, I often don't have enough height attaching to a hitch to drag the logs without digging in and tearing things up. If I could get another few feet of height, I would be able to use the tongs without issue.

Since you are new here and probably don't know to click "Reply With Quote", I will guess you mean me, cause I am the one that posted three pictures.

Here is the first one again and one with adjustable lift holes:

The biggest problem with something like that is going to be pulling the front end off the ground. It’s a long lever so it’ll raise slow so rollover isn’t likely but it’s still not very useful if the front end is off the ground.
