Had a flat repaired, could not lift the heavy load range G tire and wheel up to get it on the three studs that hold it.

No problem, I will use the shop crane. Problem, gravel driveway between shop and trailer barn. No problem, roll the shop crane into the tilt trailer, push it with the Ranger EV.

Rolled the shop crane off of the tilt trailer, into the trailer barn, tied a rope to the spare, jacked it up, pushed it onto the studs, no problem. :D

Good job. No sense using your back when you have a hoist. I should have thought of that when I put spare tire brackets on my 2 trailers and had to lift the spares up on them.

Lifting stuff like that is ok when you're in your 20's or 30's. These days I look around and think "What do we have?" FEL with pallet forks gets used a lot.

Looks like more work than I'd go to. I'd throw the sucker up there and be done. But I have to ask...Why not just use your telehandler?

Yep, I used to be able to throw it up there, but not any more with a tire and wheel that weigh well over 100 pounds. Also this trailer doesn't have any thing to set the tire on while you slide it over the three studs. It would be hard to hold it up, lean back to see the studs and rotate it onto them. The shop crane made it easy.

The grapple is on the V417 so I didn't want to remove it and rig something up to lift the spare. For those that didn't see it in Today's Seat Time: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...todays-seat-time-post4160778.html#post4160778

Thought that would have been a good job for the telehandler? Guess it would be a little tricky lifting it up and getting it in the right spot.

Nice use of that crane.

I use my dad's a lot for more than just removing engines.

Comes in handy for lots of things.

Very useful tool to have.

Needed to use the trailer yesterday, checked tire pressures, spare had no pressure, the patch leaked.

Made a support peg to hold the wheel when putting it back on the spare tire mount.

Note the 3/8" hole drilled before removing the wheel.

Used a piece of steel tube and a 3/8" bolt to make a support peg slightly longer than the studs.

Still too old and weak to lift it up there, but was able to stand it up on the tailgate, carry it from the truck and hang it on the peg.

Then rotate it until the studs lined up.
