I have a TC35D/16LA...bought in April 2002. Currently have 136 hours. With the exception of needing to put in the stop valve on the 1/4" rubber tube at the radiator drain, I have been problem free. Ooops I hope I just didn't jynx myself !!! Oh well.

I'm very happy with the tractor. My buddy runs a pair of JD ( 4500 and 4510 ). We've had them all at work together doing some major landscraping at my home. I like the NH better. It just seems a little more refined. Some may say a tractor shouldn't be 'refined', but for me, I like the ease of use and comfort.

have you ever driven Studebaker?

What's a Stud-e-baker? Is that what you call a handsome guy in a kitchen?

Mark

Just kidding - but I DID get my license in 1977/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif!

I see where the "61" comes from, Not to make you guys feel too old, but I was still in diapers in '77

I don't know which makes me more sad:

that I'm turning 42 next month

that I got my first tractor in my 40's and you got your first in your 20's/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif!

Hey, ans38! When are you gonna pipe in with your feelings on your TN?

But yours is more than twice as big as mine. Maybe the HP / age metric will cheer you up.

40HP/42years = .95HP/year
18HP/28years = .64HP/year

I'd say you got the better deal/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

There were a lot of jokes about the biggest error Studebaker ever made was taking the wagon tongue off./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif They supposedly made good horse drawn wagons before they made cars, but in my opinion they were just too far ahead of their time with their cars, but I guess most folks didn't particularly care for the appearance.

That probably wouldn't be a good thing to mention on a public forum that stands a good chance of being monitored by NH. At least not if you want to keep receiving that excellent service! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I bought my TN65D February 2001. I've had a couple of minor problems since then but no show stoppers. First, the battery failed due to an internal short. No problem, brought the battery in, picked another one off the shelf at the dealership, put it in and had no more problems. I lost a CAT II ball from the left draft arm on the 3 point-found that the retaining pin wasn't located correctly as to lock the ball in place. Dealer replaced the entire draft arm end free of charge. The 4WD icon light on the dash panel would sometimes work-sometimes not. Found a loose mounting screw on the 4WD engagement switch. Fixed it & told the dealer about it. They put in a feedback report to NH. The connection link for the 3 point control lever kept popping off last Winter when I was blowing snow. I exercised the lift lever and applied WD-40 to the 3 point hydraulic lift input shaft. Told the dealer about it. Haven't had any more problems. I still have problems with the instrument panel fogging up in the center of the window. I gather this is a common gripe, but it eventually goes away after the cab heats up. I had a mild case of sticker shock at the price of the engine lube oil and hydraulic filters. (I also had to buy a set of metric tools for the tractor's tool box. I hadn't anticipated that, me being used to SAE tools with my previous tractors.)

Over all, I'm very happy with the tractor. I've had good support from the dealer, even though they're 60 miles away. I love the hydraulics. Great power, lots of lift. (I have the 32LA loader with the 72" material bucket, pallet forks & bale spear-all quick attach, of course.) The 16 speed transmission with mechanical shuttle is great, but I mostly run the tractor in the B (High) range for most of my work. Outstanding engine power, good starting in cold weather. Very reliable tractor. Surprisingly tight turning radius even without the Super Steer. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I love my TN 65. I've broken stuff but had to work at it. My 6'4'' self has all the room I need. The tractor does just about anything I want. Of course there are times I need (or want) more power, more traction and more loader capacity but hey, I can always move up to a Versatile or a D9, right? :) The dealer service is so-so but that fluxuates on the time of year and their labor situation. Would I buy it again? Yes. Same dealer? Yes.

Not much time on the tractor yet, but I love my TC40D. It died at 24 minutes of ownership (see TC40D HST/PTO Fails) from a failed snap ring that joined the flywheel and the hydraulic pump. I can smile about it because my dealer fixed it and didn't charge me for pickup and delivery. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
