Anybody have or just used one of those limb saws that mount on a front loader on a tractor and use the hydraulics from the tractor. I need something for trimming the tree limbs along a driveway about 1,300 feet long.

We tried out a Snowmobile Trail Groomer that had a saw mounted on the loader, it worked ok but had me wondering how long it would last. It was mounted on a 160 horsepower New Holland tractor.

I haven't used one, but I spent 20 years doing residential tree work. Trimming and removals with chain saws, pole saws, pruners etc, running loaders, skid steers, boom lifts etc. etc. Those loader mounted trim saws look like they'd break on the first day and there's no way you'd be able to do a proper pruning cut with one. For what you describe, and assuming you're competent with a chain saw, I would rent a boom lift. If you're not an experienced saw user, I would hire it done.

I worked most of my life with a chainsaw, working for a logging and sawmill operation. I started in 1964 cutting logs and pulpwood in the woods, than I was in the mill running the headsaw and the last 33 years driving log & lumber truck. I am only 78 years old and still cutting some campfire wood but let me tell you, it definitely is getting harder to do.

In that case, a boom lift and small, light saw should do the job. (y)

This one looks interesting and no chain to sharpen:

I had a limbinator, a hydraulic chainsaw on a pole. It was slow and har to use and hard to maneuver.
