been thinking about this for some time but not seriously, but after reading the post yesterday on building a tree shear,
Starting a tree and brush shear build - TractorByNet.com
where I was wanting some thing was on the log splitter, to trim to length some small limbs or branches that are usually left when doing fire wood,
I have "sheared" or smashed them in half, with he splitter it self but usually it shatters and is working the splitter at max for the most part,
(the majority is dry elm),
the thought I had was a curved blade that would work more like a cable cutter, most likely with a 4" capacity, maybe 6" max, or more like a 6 inch opening , it is usually 4 and below that gets left in longer pieces,
now I saw this "processor" on the net
quick time video of the machine working,

a you tube of it,

yes it would be nice to have the PTO drive and the full working machine,
but my wood is not straight or uniform, so I really could not use it,
but the idea is the curved shear, my thought is some type of Hydraulic cylinder maybe separate from the main cylinder or some type of lever to work the shear off the main cylinder,
any one ever thought of this or made any anything?
