So what is this food plot,people food or wild game food?

Well I did leave out the part where he couldn't drive anything but a atv to it and had to haul it in on a 4x6 trailer. Got stuck and hauled 1 ton by the bag. Found out the difference of powder lime and pellet lime. Also found out that rain is better than wind if having to make the choice when spreading lime by hand.

Well, the plot is a deer plot that is unaccessible by a large lime spreader truck. Soooo, I tilled up the one acre plot with my KK II tiller and then spread 1000# of powdered lime by hand. Now I am going to fertilize then till again and finally seed it. Once seed is spread I am going to go over it with a roller to ensure good seed to soil contact and then watch from there. I have never planted clover before, how long should I expect to have to wait until I see some growth?

Not long,if its good and warm and seeds got damp from a little rain,you should be able to see it sprouting in a week or so.Since you tilled it,you should at least lightly mulch the ground after you are done or rain may wash away seed and dirt.I thought it had to be a deer plot. let us know how this turns out,I was planning on planting a couple of about 1/2 acre plots my self,I was thinking of diskingthe short grass some,putting some lime[not as much as you],and some10-10-10 fertilizer,disking some more,than planting some kind of mix that would have alot of red clover in it,and than lightly disking again,so as maybe not turning the ground to dust so MAYBE I wouldn't have to mulch,we'll see when I do it ,probably not till next spring sometime. I was always told never fertlize and lime at the same time, that it was bad for the plants. I always wait about three weeks after I lime to add fertlize. I think adding both at the same time causes a bad chemical reaction.
