Limiter chains too long?

I tried to put my Woods Dixie Cutter (M5) on the LK3054 today (I normally use it on the TO20). I found that with the narrower rear and R4s that lift arms were going to be into the tires. I could swap the pins so they face inward, which would probably be enough to keep the arms off the tires. Do you think this is worth it, or should I just put together some sorter limiter chanis? Anyone ever try mounting something with inward facing pins? Any other suggestions?

I have the pins facing inward on my 78" Lucknow blower and my backblade.

It seems easier for me to mount the arms with the pins facing inward. I have a Cat II three point so the arms are more akward.

Shouldn't be a problem reversing the lift pins 180 degrees, I've seen several implements configured that way. But why not just get a bolt cutter and take a few links out of the chain. I put a quick link in mine, so I could adjust the span of the lower arms. I open the quick link, hook up the implement to the TPH, pull the lower arms in tight, hold them there with the quick link.

I've swicthed all my implement's pins to the inside for my B2400. It's much easier to install and remove from 3pt arms this way, especially the heavier implements. It also requires less adjustment of my check chains

Chris, I don't understand why that would be happening on your 3054. I don't have that problem on the CK20 and it's certainly as narrow, with R4s. Does your tractor have the sway limiter chains on each side? Are they too long? I wouldn't think so. Are you saying that when you hook up the pins, the lift arms are just too wide and touching the tires and that adjusting the chains would make no difference? That seems very strange to me. I wouldn't think your pins are set any wider than my Howser cutter. I wish you had pics to show so I can see what you mean. thanks, John

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. The width of the frame the pins are mounted to is 25.5", which is similar to another implement I measured. The arms will slide out to the clip pins, so that effectively makes it wider. When mounted with the pins outward, the limiter chain will allow the arm to move over to the inside of the (opposite) wheel. The limiter chain has a real nice turn-buckle that takes up most of the length of the chain, so you really can't shorten it up too far. I attached Kioti's picture from their website.

I'm going to have to take a good look tomorrow and see if everything is as it should be - like that all the arms are in all the right holes, etc. I had a 5yr old talking at me non-stop while I was trying this today, maybe I missed something. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Maybe I misunderstood. Don't you have a horizontal chain connecting the two lower lift arms from the INSIDE ? That's where I put my quick link so that I can pull them TOWARD each other. That keeps the ball ends off the lynch pins too.

That's a pretty standard measurment and it should go on without hitting the tires. Are you sure you have the chains and the lift arm brackets in the proper holes? There are three holes to choose from. Try moving the chains to another hoe and tightening or loosening them till you have no sway at all and see if that makes a difference. I see no reason that mower shouldn't go on with the pins as they are and not hit the tires. If all else fails, have a welder remove some links from the chains. John

Never thought of that - I may have to try it, as it always buged me that they ride out on the pins.

OK, it was set up by the dealer with the lift links and limiter chains on the inner set of holes. I just moved it to the outer ones - I haven't put the cutter back on yet, but I'm sure it will be fine now. Should have been paying more attention! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I took the opportunity to grease all the pins anyway.
