For some reason the last few years it's quite common to soak 6010. Don't understand what the manufactures have done, that causes 6010 to dry out so much. And it's not specific to any one brand, Lincoln, Hobart, ESAB.

In fact I just did this yesterday to a large hand full of Hobart's PipeMaster 60 6010. I had to do this bunch in the kitchen sink because I have all the outside faucets turned off for winter. I just laid them in the bottom of the sink filled the sink up with water until all the rods were covered, rolled them around for a few seconds, placed them in a plastic rod container, but I won't use them for a day or two. Then they'll be good as new!

SOLD! I'll take that welder! But you have to meet me somewhere...We will be going thru Omaha, Toepeka, Witchita, and Oklahoma City then we head west.

It really isnt that far out of your way if you are going to OK city, back north 35 miles to I-44 straight shot into Ok. and You would love the area, Plus you would get a chance to see the welder in action.. plugged in and welding before you laid down your hard earned $ .. what you say.?

Well...kinda out of the way. We are going thru Topeka - Witchita - OKC. We are driving 3300 miles on this trip already.
I would love to hook up and get it...I am sure it works great...if you can figure out how to get it over there somehow without too much trouble then we can try it.
BTW....country music is the last thing that would attract me to a place. Sorry...just not to my tastes.

I found a Dayton AC/DC welder with old school hood for $150 in Albuquerque. Is Dayton a good brand? AC/DC would be nice but not sure if it is required? What benefits does DC offer?
The only thing is how to secure it and pass up other potential options along the way.
I always buy stuff while down in the US on holidays. Some people are very creeped out that a Canadian from so far away wants to buy their stuff and won't deal with me. Others don't care, but I have been shafted before.
UPDATE: I called and they offered to verbally hold until I get there. Just need to know if Dayton is a reliable brand.

Trust me, if the unit is good, DC is the way to go. much smoother arc and much larger rod selection, less spatter, quieter process etc.. yes by all means buy the AC/DC unit . Not that I dont want to sell my AC only rig, I do, but I would be a scalawag if I did not advise you in this direction.

I guess I should have said if the Dayton is in good working order, buy it .. I am not familiar with that brand.. of course it would be nice to see it run some 1/8 7018 on DC at about 125 amps but you may not have that opportunity.
