I posted this in the repair forum but thought I'd give a try here.
The charger for my Lincoln died the other day. It is a 14.5V model 1210 charger. I charged one battery and it worked OK and the battery is charged good to use, but then I went to charge a second bat and it started to stink. Can the charger be ruined by trying to charge a really run down battery? After it stopped working I took the bad battery out and put a meter on it; was only like 2 volt.
It's a sad thing if a defective battery can wreck the chargrer like that. What are you supposed to do, check with a voltmeter every time before you put the battery in the charger?
Anyways, where's the best place online to purchase a new charger? And maybe a new battery while I'm at it, someplace reputable where you won't get a stale or defective one.
