'seems to be' being the key phrase, AndyM. Every moderator has changed inline images to links. I just do more of them because I've sat through a modem session and had the 'joy' of waiting for a thread filled with inline images to download. So I know what it's like. Hence my comment about using inline images being a simple matter of consideration of others.

The guidelines are simple;

1. 640 x 480
2. Under 100K, just like attachments.

Adding them to the FAQ is a good idea.

Noted... Thanks.

Yes, I think this would be a better idea than eliminating the feature all together. There are many times when an inline picture serves better than a link or an attachment to provide a better "flow" to one's message... so long as it is within the guidelines.

Perhaps that's only because some of the other moderators, such as I /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, haven't taken the time to learn now to change them to a link, so we depend on him to do it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sometimes I add images in a post, like this one. However, I always make sure that they are 640x480 max and under 50k in size. (The attachment is a different view and 800x600, 96k.) I don't think that 100k is necessary to post a picture for illustration purposes, and programs like Irfanview can produce good, small file-size copies.

I think Mike takes an un-deserved beating in the forums because he takes care of most of the items before the rest of the moderators can get to them. That gives the appearance that he is the moderator with the shortest fuse. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The fact is 9 times out of 10 when the moderators get notified of a post by the TBN membership, by the time I get to it, Mike has already taken care of it. I think it shows his dedication to all members of TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well I just posted an image (I did keep it small) and wondered why people didn't. A quick search turns up this thread. To me that's the beauty of vBulletin forums and others that do the same.
Easy for me to say though because I have broadband. :)

I have dial up,and high speed isnt going to be available for another couple years. I dont have the time to look at all the pictures.I find it irritating when someone displays within a post,because ive usually scrolled by and am reading on,and then my screen moves and i lose my place[because the pic is forming.}However it does inhance the post,and i hope the practice is not stopped,i cant wait to read TBN with highspeed someday.
