Live vs. Non-Live PTO Question.......

When a clutch on a non-live PTO tractor is pushed in the PTO stops spinning and the implement ceases to turn/run, yes?

If that is the case, does that still happen if the PTO is still in gear?

The tractor specifically is a M-F 150

When the clutch on the non-live pto is stepped on, there is no power transmission to the pto Obviously when the pto is disconnected then there is no power to the pto BUT the power to the pto input shaft is also stopped.

So is my B7800, BUT I can shift speed ranges without using the clutch by making sure the GO pedal is centered in neutral. No gear grinding at all...slick and easy.

Like herringchocker, I seldom use the clutch when shifting speed ranges on my B2710.
With HTS being able to change directions foward and reverse with out useing the clutch is a plus.

There are guys here that are more knowledgeable about the terminolgy, but I borrowed an older Kubota w/5' rotary mower and the tractor would not stop when the clutch was depressed. You'll be back, looking for the definition of "Pucker-Factor"! Not fun! That's a big 'flywheel' back there..........~Scotty

that's why you add a 75$ ORC between the mower and tractor so the mower can freewheel when you clutch, instead of backfeeding the drivetrain. deffinate safety device..

I give up, no one has asked what a MF-150 tractor does , according to the book it has live power or at least a two stage clutch, apparently the owner of this tractor does not have an owners manual or knows how to operate his tractor because he is asking these questions. And everyone else is jumping to conclusions based on his statement but no one knew about this tractor.

According to tractordata it has a PTO with Live and Ground Speed modes.
If it is like my Dad's MF Industrial 50 was (similar vintage) it has a 2 stage clutch.
