LK 3504 Tach problem

My tach stopped working all of a sudden. I pulled the cable end off of the block to check the cable... all seems ok. I spun the end with my fingers and the tach needle jumps. With the cable disconnected, I looked into the housing and noticed that the slot was not turning. Is there something to lube? What would break in the housing mounted to the block? It seems odd this would happen without any warning. One minute it was running and the next dead. Any answers?

I would say there must be a gear in there on the engine?
Can block be removed to be inspected?
That appears to be next step.
Most things that break happen suddenly unfortunately. Mechanical objects have no regard for the human condition.

There is a tach drive on the front of the engine. It will need to be replaced. We should have stock of them, just give me a call if you need one.
