LN-7 feeder Keeps Jamming

Cant get more than a minute of straight welding before it jams..At first i thought it was just the roller in the feeder so i swapped that out for the one in the parts machine.. No after a minute or so of welding it pig tails inside the feeder.. The machine works fine for small short welds but not on long burns like i need to do now..
After i got thinking i did change the liner a while back and am wondering if i left it too long and that is where the jamming is occurring?/I did notice that as i was feeding the wire through after a break that it sounded rougher when it hit the end..The whip is 12 feet and that was the only rough spot i heard..

I dunno i am stumped and figured i had better ask first instead of replacing a liner that i cut too short(which was what i was worried about when i first installed it)..any ideas?

What wire and gun are you running?

.045 wire size..the gun i cant remember what brand but i can run down to the shop and have a look it..have new .045 tips for it and the liner i bought was for .045 wire as well cause its the only size i have here..LOL

forgot to ask in the original post but i was debating on cutting the liner shorter as it seems to have an awful lot of free play inside the whip and i am wondering if it makes contact with the tip and cause over heating?? it will work great for the first bit....

Where I was going with these questions, is if you were trying to run Innershield through a regular Mig gun. Larger Innershield wires get hot enough to expand, and in short order will freeze up in a regular Mig gun! I'd say now remove the wire, remove the gun from the machine, remove the contact tip and blow the liner out. I'm sure you haven't damaged the gun? And are keeping it straight as possible?

I did blow the liner earlier today after the first jam/break.. That sounds right about the wire expanding..Get me thinking that when i cut the tip of the liner it may have squeezed it shut a little bit and then when the wire heats up it jams there..Might have to use something to expand the liner end a bit..

The gun isnt pretty and the brand name looks to be TGX TREGASKISS ?? I am not a welder by trade obviously so i dont know but that is all that was written on it.....can i head the local welding shop and buy just the gun as a replacement or does a new gun mean new whip..Those i remember not be cheap..

I always use a zip disc to cut the liner.

I'll tell you what, I'll help you out big time! Send me that POS feeder, we all know that was one of Lincolns biggest mistakes!

A new gun is around $350 to 400.00 +! I'd see if I could open the end of the liner up, or replace the liner with a new one. I'm sure your problem is in the gun, those feeders are bullet proof!

I guess it was a big mistake..and they just cant stop repeating sionce they still make the LN7.....LOL...what would you want with these anyway..i read a post somewhere about your shiny new welder...LOL

Thanks for the info..I am going to look into a new gun..400 is resonable..even tho i got a 2 cv-300 and 2 ln7 with 3 spools of .045 wire for 700 bucks..LOL
