Tires Loaded tires? How do you tell?

Yep, do as suggested, putting the tractor so valve stems are near the bottom of the tire and let out some air (should see liquid come out). That is how I found out there was calcium chloride in the rears on my H.

I haven't noticed my tires being attracted to any other ugly tires but I'll pay more attention now. When below freezing they can stagger and bounce though.

Loaded tires are not enough to keep the rear wheels on the ground. [...] On my 4010, I need AT LEAST about 300# on the 3 ph to keep one of the rear wheels from lifting.

I'm surprised that 300 lbs would make that big a difference on a 7,000 lb tractor. But, hey, what do I know? On my (soon to be my!) 3930 (6,000 lbs with FEL) the tires aren't loaded and they don't hang anything on the 3ph unless they are carrying heavy loads (i.e. trees) with the FEL.

I found out the hard way. I was told that my tires were not loaded so I took it on faith and planned to fill them myself. Since they were supposed to be empty I jacked one side up and unscrewed the filler valve without rotating it up to 12 o'clock. Needless to say, I got quite a bath. Fairly sweet and sticky so I'm assuming some sort of antifreeze. Could have been beet juice I guess but it was clearish. I was pretty mad.

I would demand the tires be loaded as part of the deal. It will make a world of difference.

It's hard to be demanding at this point - my financing is dragging its feet. Next week, when it's come through, well, then I can start being a little more pushy...

I will second casey's thoughts on using the hammer. MUCH less likely to get dirty that way, and if you STILL whack yer thumb then you might want to rethink the tractor anyway....:D

No drinkin tractors at my place, but I DO have a Palomino mare that will try & knock you down and take yer beer if she smells it....

Speaking of loaded tires, what air pressure do you generally run in tires if they are loaded? The normal pressure?

Re rear weight -- I have a DX29. I estimate the weight of the tractor/loader at around 3300 lb. with no additional weight. I do not have loaded tires -- they're too young for that stuff at only 100 hours -- but I have 130 lb. of weight on each rear wheel and about 900 lb. on the hitch in the form of a large block of concrete. Even with that, I can lift the rears when trying to curl a large rock into the bucket. The weight makes it a little sluggish, but a lot safer on my hills.
