I am considering moving from a 2320 to a 2720.
Does the 2720 use the same mounting hardware for the loader as the 2320?
I have seen some used 2720s advertised without loaders & was wondering about keeping the loader from my 2320 if the mounting hardware would work on the 2720.

I tried to find this info on the JD site, but gave up. That has to be the most user unfriendly site on the web.

The loader is the same, but the CUT Carrier I believe is different. The carrier may only be a few hundred dollars but you may be greatly reducing your trade-in without the loader. It may well be a wash to buy a new loader with the 2720.

Thank you for the replies & info. That does help.

Lost,
Was the move up to the 2520 worth it?
What improvements did you get, other than more power, by going from the 2320 to the 2520?

Chevy,

I should start by stating that I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the 2320 and our reason for the upgrade was not because the 2520 offered so much more than the 2320 but instead b/c JD was offering a $2500 rebate for the purchase for a new 2520 back in April and May of this year. I believe this was due in fact b/c of delays related to the new 1023 and 1026 series.

What intrigued me about the 2520 versus the 2320 were the:
a) larger tires
b) longer wheelbase - I believe it is only a couple of inches
c) larger alternator - this intrigued me as I wanted to add additional lighting
d) larger rated hydraulic pump - this also intrigued me as we may want to add a 3rd SCV and it does affect the rate of lift for the FEL
e) runs quieter - wasn't a selling point or even if I thought about it when looking at the 2520 but I did notice it when we took delivery

Some other items worth mentioning but haven't affected me:
a) larger turning radius
b) larger fuel tank - I believe another gallon
c) it has a dipstick in addition the the sight glass for the transmission fluid

May I ask your reason for the upgrade? I notice from your signature you have a 62" deck, were you looking for more power?

Lost,

I looked into trading for a 2520 when JD had the $2500 off. My dealer wanted $7,400 difference. I thought that was a lot at the time. I was too busy with work to shop around so I kept the 2320.
Now I have some work coming up where I will need to move a lot of gravel. Faster loader operation would be one of the reasons for trading. A very slow loader is really the only major complaint I have with the 2320.

I never had a problem with a lack of hp with the 62" deck after the tractor got broke in. But a few more hp would be nice.

Did you have the snow blower on your 2320? Did you have to make any changes to use it on the 2520?

Chevy,

Yes, we used the 47" snowblower on our 2320. As far as changes for the 2520, I worked in a new PTO shaft (the 2520 requires a little longer shaft) into our purchase of the 2520. I also ended up trading with our dealer straight up my Front Attaching Support Kit, LVB24895 (2320 - pic 1) for LVB25302 (2520 - pic 2).

There are plenty of discussions as to whether the 47" is wide enough for the 2520. I am going to try it and see how it goes this winter. If I am not satisfied, I will investigate extensions or upgrading to the 54". I also intend on moving my rear tires back to the narrow position when I place the blower on the fall.

I recognize what you said about the slow loader on the 2320. I will say there is a very noticable difference on the 2520. As far as HP, I don't notice the difference between the 2320 and 2520 but I do not do a lot of heavy work with either of my tractors. But I have to imagine if you moved up to 2720, you would notice the increase in HP.

I have been looking at a 2720 myself. I think they are overpriced, but I like the smaller frame size than the 3000 series but have enough more power than the 2320 I currently use that it would be noticeable. I have had 3000 series machines, and even two 4000 series machines, but where I live having something lightweight, compact but with a lot of engine power would be very helpful. What kind of prices have folks been getting on these machines with the 200cx loaders?? My dealer does pretty well, but his dealership is now part of a larger conglomerate and his prices are somewhat limited by forces from the larger entity.
