Loader Loader Bushing Work Around

I have an LS G3038H with the discontinued LL3601 loader. I can't take the excess slop in the loader pins any longer and decided to try to fix them. The pins are okay but the holes are all wallered out. I took it apart and noticed that this loader doesn't have replaceable bushings like other brands do. After weighing my options I bought some reamers and plan to ream the pin holes a little larger and make some off sized pins. The top pin holes are 1". I plan to ream to 1-1/8" and the lower pins are 1-1/4" and I plan to ream them to 1-3/8". I ordered some alloy round steel stock in both 1-1/8" and 1-3/8" and will start reaming when I receive the stock.

Does anyone have any other suggestions before I start tearing into this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to install, or make use of other tractor's reuseable bushings and pins?
Another thing, if there is room in the arms, if I am reading correctly, you might want to consider a 1/4 inch of bushing diameter. Doing all that work and having to replace it again when 1/4 inch wears out might not be a good idea.
When you install the new bushings, make sure to add a grease path to get to the center of the bushing so that wear can be reduced.

I am thinking that reamers aren't needed for a job such as this, as a simple drill to the correct size would probably be sufficient. With the environment that tractors work in, not much requires the fit that a reamer normally is used for. Just my thoughts....

what size is your factory pins ?? before you start a ream or drill job post back

There use to be expandable pins available to fix such problems. The were sold by my long gone jd dealer. These pins worked by inserting them in your wore out hole and then you would tighten up the bolt that runs threw the middle of the pin pushing/expanding metal wedges from the pin outward to take up the worn out play. They worked quite well i was told. So good that deere bought the rights to the pins. They were also greasable too.

are you able to post some pictures of the housing that the pins slide through ,
why couldnt you have a sleeve machined and inserted in the housing , I do
lathe work like this all the time ,

How in the world can an egg shape pin rotate inside an egg shape hole? :confused3:

As mentioned above, if youre going through the trouble reaming out the holes to make them oversized and round again, simply press in some greaseable bushings and keep your original pins. Problem solved.
