Lots of folks are asking about lift capacities on loaders these days.
This info may help.

Kubota B and L series loaders
Approx. lift capacities based on our actual payload test with implements mounted on three point hitch as counterweight, standard buckets and usually with standard (with water and antifreeze ballast installed in the rear tires).

Caution should be used here.
The different loaders lift power is measured at different points by the mfg.s and on various publications.
Sometimes at pivot pins, center of bucket, w/wo buckets, with and without counterweight, and sometimes - I think-even with the rear of tractor tied down to the floor.

I know of not one -- just and exact-spec. sheet to compare all models and brands by ONE CRITERIA.
That's why we ask shoppers not to pay too much emphasis on any mfg.s loader spec. sales/sheets.
They are all printed by the mfg. to serve their needs.

Use these numbers and ours as well only as a guide.
Actual working capacity depends mostly on bucket size, weight, tractor counterweight, skill levels of operator and actual working conditions at the site.

Always remember that if the weight is not on the rear end of the tractor. The loader cannot lift its full potential payload safely.

Are the weights listed for the various materials per cubic foot? The operator, of course, would need to know the volume of their bucket in order to know if it will lift a full load of the various materials. Thanks for the info.

Good post, Steve. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This kind of information is very useful for comparing tractor capabilities across the models. I could use a little clarification here, though. Are the numbers you posted from your actual payload tests or from the loader specs? They seem to match the specs that I have, right down to the pound.

Also, the materials numbers -- that's pounds per what unit? Cubic feet maybe?

I'd love to clear up some of these numbers 'cuz I've always been a bit baffled over some seeming paradoxes. For example, I have the specs on the LB400 and the LA450, and although most of the data is identical, including the bore and stroke of all the cylinders, the 450 is built heavier, weighing 105 lbs more and the bucket itself 31 lbs more. How then, can they have identical lift capacities?

Glad to have your expertise on the board, Steve. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Steve;

Thanks for the great info. I knew the Kubota FEL model numbers referred to their capacity in kilograms. Can you give us the capacities of their buckets in cubic feet?
Thanks;
Sim

Did you catch my post on the B21? It appears that Kubota chose to rate it at 500mm forward while the others in your post are rated at bucket center from what I can tell. Rerating them all at ASAE standard points out the real advantavges of the TLB series loaders a bit better I think. With this info we should at least be able to compare Kubota to Kubota I would think...

In addition, the ag series loaders are rated with the light material bucket. Adding the construction bucket would consume some of the specified capacities, wouldn't it?

And unless I'm off base, don't the loader specs indicate pounds liftable to FULL loader height? I know I've lifted things off the ground and carried them that are over the loader's "rating". How many times do you need to lift full load to full height? I suppose loading a truck with gravel maybe, I'm uncomfortable with any heavy weights up high unless I'm on completely flat hard graded ground. Someday when I have nothing to do I'm going to set a pallet on my loader forks and put known weights on it, but that's after I get the place "sit-in-a-lawn-chair-with-ice-t-done" which of course will be never. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

As I've posted before, I think the manufacturers do this different method stuff just to make it difficult to compare anything, especially backhoes. Although going by cylinder size is a ROUGH comparison, the leverage situation makes just as much difference. The ways they measure digging force is all over the place. Like you I wish they'd just stay with the SAE method, whatever that may be. I think the loader rating at full height is much less then loader lift just off the ground due to the leverage situation. The newer excavators are computer controlled to prevent tip over (hopefully/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif). I suppose the loaders that Kubota puts on are designed to be safe with a safety minded operator. You can dump any of the tractors over though by going fast, load high, rough ground, unbalanced load etc.

sc - I've got as many as three different spec sheets on most of the model showing various #s.

So, cuz, there's no BLACK and WHITE clear cut answetrs on this one. Even if they did measure them with the same "stick".. the counterweigh, tire sizes, type of rims, etc.. could all make a little difference.

Also, the materials numbers -- that's pounds per what unit? Cubic feet maybe?
sc -- Yeap

I'd love to clear up some of these numbers 'cuz I've always been a bit baffled over some seeming paradoxes.
sc -- Good Luck....
You know, they'll all usally scoop up "a bucket full"..
Don't worry... be happy
