There are metric and SAE threaded grease fitting's. I'm not sure what would be on yours.

If it had a drive in a zerk and new one it too big, you can use a ball pien hammer on the hole.

I would imagine Kubota, Massey F, Mahindra, Kioti etc are all metric. am I wrong?

You would "think" they would be but nothing would suprise me.

are the zerk threads the same for domestic and foreign tractors, or is there a metric vs SAE discrepancy? thanks

You can get metric zerks.

I've also used a center punch to stake the hole.. 3 hits around it provided pretty good drive in resistance.. then another 3 stakes to hold it... 'dots' up the finish a bit.. but sure beats no grease.

The BP hammer method sounds good.. I'll have to try it before staking next time.. sounds like it may not mar the finish as much.

Most of the zerks on the tractor itself are metric, but the implements use SAE zerks. (or maybe it's the other way around) Make sure you bring your old ones with you - between the loader, backhoe, and tractor, my Kubota uses at least 5 different sizes zerks, and if I take a guess at the store, I ALWAYS get the wrong one.

Sounds like it is time to invest in a ID and OD thread gauge set.

I have drilled out the center of broken zerks with a bit smaller than the zerk diameter. it usually is loose enough after drilling for the balance to come out easily. That way I do not damage the threads.

I used the zerk tool the other day. It worked great. My LA300 loader seems to have metric zerks which princess auto does not carry. I'll get them at the dealer when I get new pins for the bucket on my FEL.
