loaning family money

In the spirit of the holidays or in celebration of the release "In the Heart of the Sea" maybe some introspection is in order.

"Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed." --Herman Melville

Not judging, I am more guilty than most, I found this quote by the writer of Moby Dick thought provoking.

Thanks for the Christmas Cheer Chanute and Jerrybob

If you say gullible really slowly........it sounds just like oranges.

Happy Holidays!

So, sorry for long lack of response; I am the OP, but can't access my original account since they disabled the App. Anyways, after two weeks, wife when to see her grandma and he was there. He gave her $60... now it's been about a month, and guess what... i still have the gun and only $60. I can't say I'm surprised or that I didn't know better. So, with $60 and the gun, I guess I haven't lost money, but I don't really want the HI Point. I guess I will hold it till end of March or so, and if I don't get paid in full (from his/her tax refund), I'll be selling it to recoop.
Probably loose a little bit to what Dave Ramsey refers to as "stupid tax",

I hope you have paperwork for the gun, or at least a note from him how you came to possess it.

Not many of us here, I would bet, would turn down anyone who got rid of their phone, TV, car, credit cards and still didn't have enough for food.

I would agree. I had a family member ask for $3200 to pay off debt and keep out of trouble. I asked what the debt was and the response was it was credit card debt. I said since it was self inflicted I would not pay.
Several years later the person needed $5,500 to pay for college and not get stuck in a high interest loan. I loaned her the money. She paid it back at $50 per week. Two and a half years later paid in full. Consider that a good investment.
