Loaning out tractor/implements

I know not to loan things as I've been burnt a couple of times way back when. Didnt heed my gut a couple of months ago and loaned my brand new chainsaw to my neighbor (really good guy). He just needed to cut one limb off and saw it up. I thought, what can happen? He brought it back full of dirt....where he let the bar go into the ground as he cut the limb up.

20 years ago when we moved to our new home place at the end of a long dead end road the 1st thing i did was put a sign out ( tractor for hire ) with a triple the going hr. rate at the bottom. Nobody has asked me do any work for them. Guess that was too pricey for them.
