That's something That may be just something I need to try and if it don't work empty the tire out. What I have read on this site running it with three point implements the weight will help offset fel weight and make it ride smoother when brush hogging on rough ground.

I have been doing alot of tree clearing the past 3 years with my 110. The hyd thumb is amazing for grabbing trees and root wads!!! Indispensable - IMO.

For trees that were either too long or too heavy for my FEL root grapple (another handy, handy tool) I rigged up a tow bridle that attached to the trailer tie down loops on either side of the hoe at the bottom of the stabilizers.

One section of chain running between the tie downs and another section of chain approximately in the middle (configured in a "Y") that extended another 10' or so and wrapped around the butt of the log.

Traction was never a problem with ~2,000lbs of backhoe and I never had to consider another option with ballast.

That said, I've got a JD ballast box filled with Portland cement that I use when the 3pt is on the tractor.

It's a cheaper option than filled tires and I don't have to worry about the machine being overweight when the hoe is attached.
