Hey Guys -

A local dealer is selling B and L-series tractors with several implements and a trailer for a great price from the looks of it.

I am focusing on buying the B2650HST since I will be mowing around the house and want a belly mower. Part of the reason I'm buying this tractor is to be able to finish mow the 2-4 acres around the house while avoiding the cost of a zero turn. I also have 30 acres of woods to maintain and will need a box blade and bush hog. What are your thoughts on these packages? I picked the B2650 since I won't have to deal with emissions. Kubota also has zero% financing for 60-84 months which is awesome!

They are final on these prices and if I'm financing the price goes up by about $500.

It seems like a mid mount mower would get in the way in the woods, and aren't they difficult to attach and remove? A rear finish mower might be easier to deal with if you're changing tasks and implement often. An L01 seems to me to be too heavy for lawn mowing but it's better for rough mowing and moving dirt than a B50. It can run a larger rotary cutter and box blade. The L packages come with R1s which would be rough on the lawn. Do you really need a trailer? If it's only for taking the tractor to the dealer it would be cheaper to rent a trailer when you need it. The L01s don't have mid PTO which you need for a mid mount mower. The packages have pin-on buckets. I'd spend the extra for SSQA, it makes the tractor more versatile.

It might be better to have dedicated lawn tractor and a dedicated woods tractor. Then you can have a light lawn mower with turfs that won't dent the lawn and a heavier woods tractor with R1s or R4s depending on your preference and conditions. If you could get by with a B2650 lawn mower instead of a zero turn, you could get by with a lawn tractor/riding mower. It'll probably turn tighter than the B.

Be wary of the package deals you'll find on the internet. On the 2650 package- it has a pin on bucket. Would recommend getting the SSQA. I am a line item type of guy. I want to see what every component costs and make sure it aligns with the final cost. Your best bet would be to price out the tractor and the implements and compare to package price.

I don't know what your house/yard is like, but the B2650 isn't nearly maneuverable enough to work as a mower in my yard. It's not even close to competing with a zero turn. So while you could avoid the cost of a zero turn, it's not going to do the same job, not even close. Tractors of this size are good for straight line mowing, with large radius turns only.

Thanks guys. Here is primarily the lawn I will be mowing. I was assuming we could trim around trees with the lawn tractor but was hoping to make the tractor work for this job. What do you think?

I had a b 2620 with a mmm 60", it was never very good to use as a "lawn mower". I had a zd326 kubota to mow with, so I used the b for other things. When the wife retired she wanted to mow so I down sized to the bx2670 mower. This is a great mower, but my zero runs rings around it. For whatever reason, I never liked the b2620 for mowing with the mmm.

This is just my opinion from personal use.

I think it will do fine as a field mower (a rear mower may be better for that than the mid-mower). But once you get into close range of all those buildings, you're going to find a tractor the size of the B2650 cumbersome as a lawn mower.

Thanks guys. Your advice helped me figure out that there isn't a do-it-all solution here. I think our best best is to pick up a lawn tractor. I looked at zero turns but the Scag's are around 8k. Plus my dad is retired and going to be cutting the lawn. He has all the time in the world now lol.

Any recommendations? We were looking at Cub Cadet and Simplicity tonight. No need to run any attachments other than the mower.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback.
