There isn't a city in Dinwiddie. There is one town and that is called McKenny. Probably less then 400 people there. The closest city would be Petersburg but I'm a good 30 miles SW of there. I'm one county away (Greensville) from the N.C line.

It seems to me nobody really cares about there local dealer. I know we do things for are customers that are not covered be we do it anyways to help our customers out and they have rank over someone who buys out of state. The main reason is because they support us so we support them.It is the same way with lawnmowers they go down to Lowes and buy a mower then bring to us when it breaks and whine they need to mow there yard today but did they take it back to where they bought it no because they don't have a service department so they can sell stuff cheaper. So what the local dealer is a little higher price it is nice to know you have local support and service I paid a $1000 more at the local truck garage instead of going to the one 20 miles away just for the support. You piss more money that tha down the drain on retarded stuff you don't need anyways.

I would really prefer to but from the local dealer. If I buy Kioti that's not possible because they are 50 miles as the crow flies.

One thing I do see as being tough on dealers is that buyers can buy from a large volume dealer just across the state line, have it deliverd and save 1-2 thousand in tax right off the bat.

I suppose it would also work in reverse but it isn't going to even out for the little guy. ( of course everyone here pays the sales tax when the file their taxes) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I went to see my local JD and MF dealers already and Kubota is on the schedule for tomorrow. So far they seem competitive but if I go Kioti, I'll go out of state and save some $, because 50 vs. 60 miles doesn't matter.

P.S. Saw the MF 1423-1428 and the JD 790. So far I like the 790. Tomorrow I hope to see the Kubota 2600/BX 22 and if time allows Kioti 3054.

The one thing I like is JD and Kubotas 0% down financing, JD goes to 84 months even with 0 down. The Kioti and MF financing is also pretty good but the 0 down terms are shorter.

I do care about my local dealer and I think that more folks here do than you think. When I first started buying I bought almost all of my equipment from the two closest MF dealer. Anything that one of them wasn't priced right on, the other one was. In the last two years I have gotten almost all of my stuff from the one right here in my own town. They have bent over backward to help me, when ever I needed it. I have also sent other customers to them.

I was lucky that I had 3 dealers with in a 40 mile radius.I got a price from the first dealer, than I called the second dealer and all he would do is match the first dealer. The third dealer which was the closest ended beatng the other 2 by adding the quick attach bucket, brush guard and hyd. remotes for the same price as the other 2 dealers without these.I also had a price from an internet dealer, once you added the options I wanted and the shipping it was only about a two hundred dollar difference. Not only that but the guy came over after work last nite to look at my tractor. He's going to have to pick it up tonite and bring it back to the shop and fix the 4WD on it.It's peace of mind knowing that if I have a problem I'll get it taken cared of.

Thanks for all the interesting replies. I didn't even mention the tax savings I would get (5% in Maine) I guess I may be luckier than some when it comes to service and repairs. I am a mechanic by trade and can do anything that needs to be done to a tractor for repairs. Even though it would be 'nice' to have the local dealer do the labor in warrantee, I would still have to haul it over an hour across back roads each way to get it there twice (dropping off and picking up). I could do a lot of work in my own garage in four hours to say nothing about fuel costs, etc.

I do get pissed when the local dealer holds 'service' like a knife to my throat so that he can make thousands more per unit than the other guy. He is totally unwilling to make less money, sighting things like advertising. His advertising cost didn't drop a penny when he didn't sell me a tractor but his revenue did. Go figure!

With the job and the rain, I have only had a chance to put an hour on my new Kioti DK45 but it is SWEET. I took the backhoe off in just a few minutes to install the tiller. I am sure the loader will come off just as easy when I need to do it.

Thanks again for all the input.

Your local Kioti dealer is obligated to provide service for all Kioti customers. We certainly would like to have sold you your tractor but hope that perhaps because of our good service you'll buy other items from us. The issue of buying from the internet dealers is thorny at best. The way I see it the well advised consumer would look real deep into the deal he's making with someone out-of-state. What's the guy's reputation? Is he able to provide service? Is the Kioti tractor all Kioti, or are there other manufacturer's products attached? Are the trailers in the "package" new, with brakes, and new tires? Let's think too about volume. Yes you can buy from the larger dealer, like Home Depot and Walmart. But, what are you doing to the local dealer who doesn't have volume discounts? The little dealer isn't trying to put the screws to you...he's doing the best he can to try to make a living. Ever go to one of the large chain stores and ask for help with a technical issue? Did you get an answer? And, as far as sales tax. You are obligated to pay your state sales tax, whether you buy in your state or not. If you finance the tractor the information is on the UCC form, filed with your town clerk and availabe for the State audit team. Because we're on the state line we split the state sales tax with the in state customer, none to out of state deliveries. This seems to work with everyone. Courteous, knowledgeable service is a priority with us. And we sell at the best possible price. In contrast with the internet dealers, we don't encourage long distance sales because it's not practical for us to provide warranty service - therefore, hurting customer relations with both Kioti and ourselves. Remember, the little guy is trying to survive - don't put a nail into small business's coffin.

I am guessing you are the other Kioti dealer in Maine. I found out about Kioti on the internet. It was only after getting information and quotes from out of state that I even heard about a (one) dealer in Maine. I went there and was totally up front with him and told him I would buy ther if he could match the deal I had. After all, why shouldn't he be able to? I assume you have read the posts so I won't go into detail about it now, however, reputation did have a lot to do with my decission. Hearing 'nothing good' I felt confident to deal long distance. Now, if you are the 'other dealer' in Maine, and I had found out you even exsisted, I would have been on your lot looking to buy from you. I have only heard 'good things' about your dealership, after-the-fact. When I found out you were there by word of mouth, I still couldn't find any indication on the Kioti web site or any other advertizements. I guess what helped my decission to buy long distance was the statement from the other dealer that he would not hesitate to sell to someone in another dealer's back yard. Live by the sword...

Send me a personal message with your location and contact info so that I will be able to check your dealership out for myself. You never know when I will need impliments, filters, etc. Might even upgrade in a year or so. I also have some friends who are interested in Kioti. I WILL NOT send them to the other dealer, might send them to you if you're as good as I have heard.
