Those pics are from delivery day in February '03. After 140 hours of use, you can imagine that those hooks and that bucket 'aint so shiny anymore /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I was doing a search re: toothbars & came across your pic. What kind of bar is that & where did you get it?It looks like it is very strong. Thanks, Bob

My loader came with 5 hooks- a pintle in the center, 1/2" chain hooks on side, 3/8" on ends topside. The pintle had a doubling plate, while others were welded to bucket and were trying to tear out. Cut the 3/8 and 1/2 off and installed 1/2 hooks with doubler on sides because I don't trust 3/8 chain with industrial euipment. The doubler plate will save your bucket.

Chim,

Can you elaborate on the dimensions of your design. It looks like it would be easy to adjust chain length. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif What size chain, how wide are the slots, what is their spacing, etc. would be VERY helpful!

I think I may go this route rather than hooks.

I kind of like the bolt-on method of attaching a hook or slotted angle iron since it would make it easier for me to install and replace later as I am not a welder. My little bucket has a square tube running the entire length along the top, so it should be plenty strong.

Guess I should go with grade 8 bolts?

That sure out to do it. I might also suggest that you put some steel plating inside your bucket so that you'll spread the stress out over a larger area.

Good luck with your project. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I should't have to add any more steel plating due to the square reinforcing tube that is part of the top of the bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now that you point it out, I remember reading that the first time I went through everything. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Maybe someone without that reinforcement will read it and take advantage of the idea. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Here's one of mine. The socket is for a round bale spear. In addition to the center hook, see the loop at the far right corner for hooking to the corner of the bucket. There is another one at the other corner.
