I never found a drain plug on the side of the transfer case.

I do not know if this is recommended or not but when I filled the tractor back up with 80w-90 gear I took the creeper box cover off and put most of the fluid through there and watched to make sure that the oil passed through the bearing. Robby

Hey Robby,

Please view Greg's attachment, as his picture is right on the money. And you want to make sure that oil is also getting into the Transfer Case.

The way that you used, (Taking the creeper cover off), is probably the best way. Some of the Guy's even put in a dip stick for that reservoir as well. Instructions for that is either on TBN or over at the NYCTO Forum.

The way that I did it, was to leave the drain plug out of the Creeper and the Transfer until I saw Diesel fuel coming out and then after the flush. I left those plugs out also, until I saw oil coming out of those drain's.

You did good Robby, but I would make sure that you have oil in the transfer CAse. You may also have a solution of diesel fuel in the transfer case, until you drain it also.

The heat is about to get me. I am putting up shelving in the shop/garage now. I've got 36' up and one more 12' section and I will have the 48' of shelf Space, that I wanted, completed. The 30" fan that I ordered from Harbor Freight hasn't came yet, so it has really been hard working in the Metal building in the heat. I hope after all of this work on the new building that a Hurricane doesn't come along and blow the thing down.

I thank you for the picture that is the same picture that is in my parts list. I have been all over the transmission. I think they left out the drain plug on my tractor. The way I understand Greg's post that it would be under the right foot as you sit on the tractor. When I read Joe's post he had a concern that I may not have oil in the transfer case. When the fluid goes in through the creeper it has to pass through the transfer case. That is the way I see it. I see oil on the stick

Hey Robby,

The Transfer case Drain Plug, is under your left foot. It is the part, that the shaft attaches to, from the Front Drive. It hangs down directly below the creeper gear reservoir, and is therefore the lowest point. When you put in the Diesel fuel to flush, then some of the diesel fuel may have diluted the oil, in the transfer case, since it is at the lowest level. You can probably get by with just draining the transfer case, but it really should be flushed as well.

The drain plug on the transfer case is approximately the same size as the drain plug on the Creeper Gear Reservoir.

I found it . That is the area that I hit my head on at least once while trying to find the plug . I loosened it and I have gear oil in there. I will check the oil level in a day or two after the diesel dissipates. Thanks Robby

Hey Robby,

If it were mine, and if I weren't going to flush out the Transfer Gear. Then I would take the drain plug out and let the oil that is in it drain out and then let a little bit more drain through it for about a quart or so. That way, you will know that it is getting oil and the oil draining through, will help clean it also of residue.

Once the oil held in the Transfer gear empties out, you will only get a small little trickle of oil that will continue to drain, out the Transfer Gear Case. I think that the oil, getting to the Transfer Gear is also going through bearings, and that is why, that it is a good idea to flush that part as well.

Don't forget to flush your Front Drive also. You have 3 drains on the front End. One on the bottom side, of each steering wheel unit, and then one in the middle of the front drive, on the right hand side/Looking at the tractor from the rear. The drain bolts are, if I remember correctly, about 7mm and are square headed and easy to round off, if you don't have a tight fitting wrench.

You did good Robby. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Both of the front one's are pictured here. The obvious one will drain out most of the oil. The second is above the drive shaft about 4" in front of the drive housing.
