What is the smallest PTO Hp tractor I can get with a locking front axel? This would give me true four wheel drive when needed.

NH has the TNS60 ( super steer) and Kubota has the M6800. The NH is controled with a switch while the Kubota has a pedel similar to the way most of us lock are rear Axels.

Does Deere have one for a utlity tractor?

Sorry I can't answer your PTO question. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But I can tell you that it makes a difference!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif None of that 3 wheel crap!!

The Massey 2400 series starting with 47 PTO hp and with the about the same physical size but more hp is the 3400 series.

My TN75D has the same electro hydro front differential lock that the S models have. And yes it makes a huge difference when pushing hard.

The Kioti DK65 has front and rear differential locks. John

I believe all of the JD 4000 series tractors have this feature (if they have 4wd).

There's a manual (foot pedal) lock for the rear on JD 4000's, but I think the front is just a plain open diff. Be a plus to find out otherwise, but I think there's no lock on the front.

I believe the 5000 Twenty's and up have a manual lock on the rear and some version of a limited-slip diff up front. One of the upgrades you get as you go upsize. The smallest, the 5220 is 45 PTO hp.

The old version of the 5220 and 5320 do not have a locking front axel. A farmer told me the "new version" which is due out in December may have one.

The 6X20 has one but it also has 65 PTO hp and weighs too much to trailer, plus I would need to sell a kidney to afford it.

I guess it depends on how serious your traction need gets. Far as I know, the 5000-Twenties have always had the limited slip front diff. Not a true locker, but much better than nothing. If they're adding a true locker to the 'new version' (5000 Twenty-Fives?) that could be better yet.

Oddly enough I was trying out digging out hard ground with my FEL toothbar over the weekend for the first time. In 4wd I spun all four tires quite equally when I tried too aggressive a bite. Never touched the rear lock - both tires were already spinning evenly.

Even with the filled rears I've got more power than traction (on sod with damp clay underneath). The 4710 never even thought about stalling.
