Locking Valve for Overhead Diesel Storage Tank

I am certainly not trying to outdo anyone here, but I did luck into a pretty good deal on a diesel tank last year. I found one for sale out past Arriba, CO for $100 and decided to drag a trailer out there to look at it, not even expecting it to be worth the trip. It turned out to be a 500 gallon tank on a stand, and it still had about 50 gallons of diesel inside. The seller assured me it was good fuel, but didn't realize there was that much left. He then proceeded to bring by a couple of his own trucks to drain the fuel into. That sold me, since the tank was sound and had no rust. My son paid the $100 and we brought it home for use with his firewood business. Of course, I did replace the hose and filter, but the old valve still leaks. I hung an empty paint bucket under the leak to catch the drips (about half a pint per week) and simply dump the leaked fuel into my tractor through a filter funnel. Someday soon I do need to replace that valve, though. Have a great day.

I just welded a trace chain to the drain plug. Drilled a hole in valve handle. Swing chain link over handle end and pad lock it. Welded a brake drum on a hinge to lock the top fill cap. Been that way since 95.
