I noticed that the locknut on the upper arm has a small rod tack welded to it. Can you tell me why it's there and if I need to on the nut? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks !

If we are talking about the same thing, mine has 2 rods welded to it, one on each side. I just assumed they are there for hand tightening/loosening when I make adjustments in the top link length instead of having to get a wrench. At least that is what I use them for. I hit it with the side of a gloved hand to loosen and the same to tighten.

There is a rod that passes through the adjusting shaft in the middle, then there is a locking nut on the threads near the rear of the upper link that has a small rod (~2") tack welded directly to the nut on one of the flatted sides. It seems like the rod would get in the way of a wrench when trying to lock it tight.
