Hello everyone
New here so bear with me.
I received an old log splitter which I replaced the gas motor, the hydraulic pump, hydraulic tank and all fluid lines. I have a problem that the log splitter works like a top to split 1 log, then the splitting wedge gets slower and slower till it stops before I can get a second log split I'm guessing its the control valve but since its a new pump I don't know if it could be that also. it does leak slightly in front and back as does the cylinder leak in front and I'm going to rebuild it. But before sinking much more time into this I wanted someone else's opinion about the hydraulic issue I'm having

Sounds like the return from the cylinder is plugged. Could be between the cylinder and valve or somewhere else. Temporarily run the hose into a clean container. If the problem goes away or there's no flow, you know the fix.

Another thought is the piston seals are leaking. Either way... the test above will tell the tale.
