Log splitter is slow aeter rebuild of control unit

The pump was manufactured by John S. Barnes Corp and has the following markings:
3/88 (Month/year?)
73301 (Model or Serial Number)

Motor is a B&S 8.0 HP

If I can figure out how to do it, I'll load a photo of the valve control unit and maybe you can tell me what I need to do to change the pressure relief.

As stated in previous posts, the unit has worked well since I got it until the rebuild and move to the trailer. The motor has never changed speeds, nor has the pump.

Your 8 HP engine can power a one stage hyd pump 4.5 GPM and 2500 psi.

The same engine can power a two stage pump at 18 GPM at 650 psi, or 4.5 GPM at 2500 psi.

Did I understand you correctly that you had an inline filter from the pump to the valve, and if so, you don't have much surface area, and they need to be cleaned often. Do you have a return filter also?

No return filter; just the one inline unit.

And, I went back and read all the info posted and did some very careful checking; I found out the hose from the reservoir to the pump WAS collapsing. It was at a position that that specific point was hidden behind another hose from the point where i was eyeballing things. When i got down in the trenches it was very obvious. She's working just like a new one now that I put on a pressure hose.

I read where you replaced a pressure hose, but you said the suction hose was collapsing. I think I would also add a $20 return filter, and remove the inline filter. The more the inline filter gets clogged, the more the pump has to work, and if it gets fully clogged, the pump or hose will blow.
