MF-165
I have a MF 165 with a FEL which runs off a pump on the front of the tractor. I've been running a 3pt log splitter off the auxiliary hydraulics, but the gpm is bare minimum for the splitter, painfully slow. I'd like to tap into the hydraulics for the loader. What is the most affordable option? I've heard of using a diverter valve and or power beyond off my loader spool, but need some guidance. I'm going to try to attach a picture of the spool, I think the plugged spot may be a power beyond port? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

Usually the hydraulic ports will all have the same flow, so your loader won't provide any better performance. According to TractorData.com, your tractor only has 4.5 gpm. If your log splitter has a 4 inch or larger cylinder, that's probably not enough for acceptable speed.

He said the loader has a pump mounted at the front of the engine. I bet it has double the GPM that his hitch pump provides.

Cheapest option would be a set of quick couplers in your bucket circuit so you could use that circuit to power your splitter valve. Use a bungee to keep the bucket spool valve on the loader control stroked.
A diverted valve would be neater, you would have to know where the system relief valve is. If it is in the loader valve a diverter installation would need to include relief protection for the splitter circuit.

Yes, the plugged spot is for changing that Gresen SP valve from open center, closed center or power beyond. The correct plug you will need will be longer with a seal at the bottom and a hole straight thru and threaded for a port connection to go to the next valve inline. 4013B2B8-11F6-499A-8A81-7F8432400BE6.jpeg

Sort of same thoughts about adding power beyond for splitter.... But not enough experience to make definitive statement....

The cheapest and simplest would be to add a quick connect to the loader curl portion of the valve,
run a longer hose from the splitter to the quick connect, take the return from the splitter valve and just attach to a tank connection.
Does your loader have it's own reservoir in the loader framework, make sure your return goes to the tank your front pump draws from.

It would be nice to know the flow rate of the FEL pump before spending time/money to use it.

For us, it would also be nice to know the specs of the splitter.
