Ended up with this splitter. Bought the 6.5hp engine NIB from neighbor for a good price. Has a decent cylinder and valves. Frame will need to be widened for better engine clearance. Also resivor is getting tossed and a new one built. Pump began leaking oil from input shaft so I'm thinking a new one may be in order. Not sure which directions to go on hydraulics. What pump, keep valve or different direction?

Why replace anything that's not needed.

6.5 hp is gonna limit you to either an 11gpm or 13 gpm two stage pump. Ideally would want about a 10 gallon tank. Beyond that, if it's ergonomically laid out, put it together and use it

I think I'm running a 13 GPM Barnes pump with the same motor.

Assuming that you are using a a 4 x 24 cylinder and a valve and hoses that sized large enough, you should be able to get a decent cycle time (around 11 seconds in high flow)

You may need to adjust where the pump kicks down into single stage operation (low flow/high pressure) to avoid stalling the motor tho' ...
