Cub Cadet Yanmar EX2900
Hi, I expect most new members join because of a question - me.

I have a 2009 - bought new-- Cub Cadet EX2900 with power beyond of which I run 2 sets of remote hookups run off the wobble stick. I do use the loop connection for my Bush Hog log splitter.

I suspect that the LW6A backhoe has a Closed valve control whereas my EX2900 PB is an Open system at the loop connection. My log splitter must be an Open valve control.

If I hook up my backhoe to the Loop -- it does nothing except drag the engine slightly. If I hook the hoe up to one set of the wobble stick remotes the hoe works smoothly but I must hold the stick open with a piece of wood - does not drag engine.

Any suggestions are appreciated. See pics - must be a better way than propping the wobble stick with a piece of wood. thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

When you use the joystick to power the BH, does it work when moving the joystick in both ways or just one? I'm asking this because I suspect there is a check valve in the BH valve to prevent from feed it via the Tank port, instead of the correct Pressure In port.

If it only works one way, it confirms my theory.

Then it should be a matter of reversing the hoses when using the PB loop.

Ok, well did that but I will try it again. So, you are saying the BH is open center but one way with the check valve? I will try tomorrow and get back.

Whatever it is, one thing you need to be aware of is... If the tractor has no subframe and the hoe you have is a 3 point mount only, you run the risk of destroying the rear case due to the load imposed by the backhoe on the 3 PH. They usually fail at the top link and literally rip the top link and that part of the casting from the rear case. Small tractors aren't built for 3 point backhoes and the failure rate is high.

First, er ummm couldn't wait until tomorrow to retry the PB loop. It works. I must not have actually reversed it the first time it did not work. thanks

Second, I did a lot of reading from TractorByNet and others on the pros/cons of a 3-point backhoe. I understand there are no guarantees, but I do not abuse my equipment and I like the flexibility of a 3 point.

If you notice my drawbar is carrying a lot much of the downward load. It is rated by Yanmar for 700 plus pounds and they only give that because of a trailer bringing the front end up on the tractor. I suspect you could pick this 3000 lb tractor up with it. The 2x3 rectangle tubing is bolted to the lower arms with a pin in the center - can be bolted solid. It does not move left and right. I do have 250 lbs of suitcases on the front and the belly mower to help offset this effect. The BH weighs without the tank under 1100 lbs. One reason I went 6 ft and not 7. My 3 point is rated at 1100 lbs lift at 24 inches. If a rear pull is of concern on the tractor top link mount, I could bolt direct from the BH top link mount to the rear mount points for a subframe.

Anyway, thanks and I will heed your warning.
