Log winch

Definitely consider a self releasing snatch block with your purchase. In my tight hilly forest I would be lost without it.
That's awesome. Thanks, Doug! I've been using snatch blocks forever, both in sailing and rigging. But I'd never seen or heard of a self-releasing snatch block before, and it solves one of my most tedious frustrations with winching logs onto my trailer from wooded lots. I know what's going to be on my Christmas wish list, this year.

Anyone who runs snatch blocks has dealt with the frustration of jamming a log or cable eye up on one. It usually happens whenever you let a friend "help" with the winch controls.

I have a Farmi 351P winch and am very satisfied with it. I wish I had experience working with a seasoned operator, but I just go slow and have never had a problem nor anything too "exciting."

I have many trouble free hours on my Igland 3501, (7000# pull) winch. I've had it almost 8 years and it gets used hard. Once a year I'll spool out 100% of the cable and respool it under tension. In year one I managed to create a rats nest on the cable spool, I was fortunate to be able to untangle the mess without cutting the cable.

I've NEVER cut a cable, if I get the line stuck, I hook it to a tree and drive the tractor ahead to pull on the line to free it up!

Looks to be OK but what is the do-dad on the end of the cable? New design I'm not familiar with?

Plus no sliders for attaching more than one log?

That's the lowest price on a new 3pt tractor winch I've seen in the last year, especially since delivery is evidently included in the price.

From the looks of it, you get what you pay for too...

Care to comment further? You do tend to use your tractors and implements more than most of us.
Granted it isn't a Farmi or Fransgard, yet for the OP's intended use it seems like it should serve him well. A few sliders and chokers will add to the cost yet even after that I haven't seen anything used in decent shape, for close to that price.

I forgot to mention this but the 8800 pounds of pull is when you have your 200 feet of line exposed. If you only have 50 ft of line out then you have some what less pulling power. I have at times when I couldn't pull something, move my tractor farther away just to get that extra pulling force. Now I think my FX 110 is like 3000 with a full spool and 11,000 when paid out. This is from memory so my numbers are probably off.
