Thanks for all the advice! I see what I need to do. Hopefully nobody messes with the tractor like they did my neighbors' tractor. He discovered his lights and instrument panel all smashed in. But his tractor was sitting out alongside a low-traffic county road.

I would suggest rubbing some wheel bearing grease on the exposed cylinder rods to keep them fr rusting. WD-40 will evaporate too quickly.
