Long vs short bed truck when pulling a gooseneck?

/ Long vs short bed truck when pulling a gooseneck? #31
I've seen a few around...and always wondered how hard it is to back them up...

Even when I pulled a single car behind a motorhome, I figured I could back up a maximum of 3 or 4 feet without getting out, unhooking the car, and moving it out of the way. I think I only got myself in a situation where I had to do that (unhook the car to turn around) twice.

I've had both 6' standard beds and 8' long beds.
Prefer the long bed configuration because of stability and better ride, not to mention extra bed room and std fuel capacity. When towing a single trailers or running empty it certainly is easier to manuver the short-bed models.
Mostly tow a 28' 5th wheel with a 20' bass boat tag'd along. AZ regulations state no trailer longer than 65' and with my Chevy Ext Cab Standard-bed it measure 65'.
Next new truck I'll go back to the 8' bed and be a li'l over length... unless I get a bigger boat!
