Actually… I’ve had my eye on this baby for the last couple of years when I first… almost ran over it… buried in brush debris near a utility line right of way…

I decided to claim her now, so I threw a chain around her and towed her home (another story in itself /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif)… she’s all mine… /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

My little nephew saw it and said,”Wow, Uncle John… what are you going to do with that big telephone pole.”

My Dad was standing there and said, “Well Peter… your Uncle John is going to start his own phone company.” I added, “…and Grandpa is going to start his own electric company…”

My nephew stood there for a moment thinking and said, “How are you going to do all that with just one pole…?

I had been ‘hogging about 1 hour and looked down at my side and noticed my cell phone was missing…/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I looked over my traveled path… about 3 or 4 acres worth and couldn’t find my phone. When I got back home, I called my cell number and it rang… /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

After a couple days… I got a prerecorded cell message and it stopped ringing…

Low and behold… I found the phone… probably within 50 feet of the spot I discovered it missing… I brought her battered body home with shredded leather case, antenna amputated off, and cut plastic body… put her on the charger for a few hours…

(can you imagine being this tiny phone and falling into the path of a 7’ rotary cutter, get swirled around at about 207 mph… and then live to talk about it…) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Pretty cool!

A few weeks ago I lost my pager while dumping a pile of brush at my property. I didn't notice until the next day. I went back and looked, but couldn't find it. I called my wife on the cell phone to tell her the bad news. She asked why I didn't page myself and I replied that the pager was on vibrate, not tone. She said to try it anyway. I sat down next to the brush pile and paged myself. About three minutes later I heard a buzz on the other side of the pile. I ran over and paged myself again. Another three minutes and I heard it louder and saw a branch vibrating. I lifted a leaf and there it was, clipped to a branch right at the top of the pile.

Now, I was impressed that it survived a night alone out under the stars until I saw that picture of your cell phone VS the brush hog. What a testimonial! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I don't blame for keeping that pole, for they come in handy for about any use...going rate around here for used poles..$4.oo ft

Yikes..talk about luck /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif finding the phone..least you didn't set it on the rear wheel than continue on. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I have a few of them poles also. My problem is that they are still in the ground..... Oh, any one know how to dig up a power pole? Also I got some 15 plus foot long railroad ties. Don't know what I am going to do with them, but I will find something. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
