Look like Global warming was a HOAX after all

How about looking at some data that has not been through Al Gore's hands or any research scientist with a grant proposal to write?
I took the records from Burlington VT"s weather station as archived by NOAA ( Best available source and the data was not collected with our question in mind.)and added up all the "heating degree days for each decade. That shows the sum total of the heat available for each decade and evens out all the day to day and one time events. If the climate was stable and not changing it shoud plot a pretty flat line. Instead I get this. I think the early data is suspect as they have moved the weather station at least once from the train station to the airport so any urban island effect stops abruptly. But the last thirty years should be pretty sound and show a steady warming trend.
No matter what causes it we will have to deal with it. What to do to deal with it is a more valuable discussion.

There are thousands of mine fires burning worldwide,but we have to stop clean coal burning because it is causing global warming?????

I don't claim to be an expert my any means on the issue of climate change/cooling/warming. But 20,000 years ago we had these huge glaciers covering all of Canada and much of the northern third of the United states. The scientists tell us that about 14,000 years ago the glaciers began to melt which created the massive lake regions in the upper midwest. So for me, it just seems that we were warm for a while, then went real cold, cold enough to form a massive sheet of ice that spread to Missouri and then it got warm enough to melt it. And this happened with little if any input from humans. Where I live in Minnesota, there would have wall of ice covering the entire state that never melted for a few thousand years. Come on now, admit it, it had to have been cold back then.

And then it melted.

The other part that I question is that with a planet that has been around for 5 billion years, trying to determine what temperature is normal/average to me seems impossible. Those of us growing up in the 60s and 70s would certainly agree that our midwest winters are not as severe today. But maybe, just maybe, those winter temperatures were colder than normal/average but we take it for granted that those winters are the baseline to determine what normal should be.

I don't dismiss completely the theory of man made climate change. We are adding people to the planet probably to the point it can't be sustained. And we are burning every bit of carbon fuel we can find so we obviously dump a lot of unpleasant stuff into the atmosphere. I would like to see more public debate. It seems to me that those who question whether global warming is entirely man made or part of some cycle we are shut done immediately. The original poster on this topic simply pointed out the arctic ice sheet grew by 920,000 miles. Yet I don't recall any news program covering this. If the arctic ice sheet had shrunk by 920,000 miles it would have been the lead story on the nightly new programs.

You have never seen forest destroyed by acid rain I suppose. I did. Czech Republic has few thousand sguare km of forest damaged or destroyed by acid rain. Mountain Waters of the Czech Republic
Sweden has thousands of lakes so acidic that all fish died.

at the moment I am about to freshen up one of my tractor engines with new rings and maybe a valve job and
used the tractors to- plow, till, fertilize and plant 4 fields in Orchard and Paiute mix field grass
and just bought my first 75 watt solar panel kit... ,
and haven't started 2 of my muscle cars in 2 years- partially because I do feel a little guilty... Been driving the 2 most fuel efficient vehicles we own- and also the newest and least polluting..was driving my street bike that gets 40+ mpg until it got to cold- small steps and -no the muscle cars aren't for sale

Not trying to Preach to anyone and I still think TBN is a great site...
