Something happened yesterday that I have never seen nor heard of before. Where I keep my Mahindra 6000 and implements (one being a 7 ft International rotary cutter), my friend was using the cutter on the back of his Case 585. He comes over to the house last nite and says, "come on out to the truck, I want to show you something." In the bed of his truck is a steel disc one inch thick and about 32 inches in diameter with 2 two inch cross steel plates welded across it (for strenght I assume). There is about a 1 inch hole at either side of the disc. Yes, it is (was) the blade carrier for my International cutter. He then showed me a female spline tube that was welded on top of the disc and fits over the spline coming down off the gear box (spline size looked to be about 2"). It just fell off......yep, he says he was going along not very fast in some not so tall grass, he looked back and saw something laying in the grass. He stopped, went back and saw it. He never heard anything. The female spline section had separated at the weld on the carrier and simply dropped down. He lifted up the cutter, undid the bolt/nut holding on the spline and tapped it off (good thing its only a few months old and not rusty). Weeelllll, I called today and promptly received a call back this afternoon that International is sending a new carrier/spline and a new set of blades (I asked for the blades and will pay for them). I don't know whether to cry or extoll the virtues of customer service!!!??? Anyhow, just wonder if anyone had ever heard of such a thing happening. I hadn't untill yesterday......Regards, BobG in VA
