Diesel shot up 30 cents a gallon yesterday...now $4.29.9

In Central Maine gas is 3.67 today locally. A couple of weeks ago it was 3.99 a gallon.
I blame speculators for trading it as a commodity and running the price up. Exon ceo says speculation is 40% of the price. I call it price fixing- and it should be investigated under anti-trust.

This is not a personal hit against anyone.

But when you use 10 to 100 million gallons of fuel, in a year, to keep your business operating............such as aviation, railroad, bussing, trucking.............you just might have speculators out there trying to determine the price your fleet will pay in the future.

Your business depends on it.

I could enlighten further, but I've been told that this isn't a political forum.........although this thread is purely political.

Oh, and I will add..........when OB took office.............gas was 1.87 per gallon.

In these parts (southern new jersey) diesel has been tracking along with high test gas, or about 30 cents/gal over regular. Before the low sulphur diesel came along it was about the same as regular gas. Last time i filled up was this past Friday for $3.83/gal.

I think the last time I saw that was on Sept. 10, 1992. I was taking a motorhome from Sanger, TX, to deliver it in Bristol, VA, and filled up with diesel at a truck stop on the west side of Arkansas. I went inside to pay with a credit card and the cashier charged me a nickel a gallon more than the price on the pump; said the pump price was the cash price. Many years ago I'd seen places that charged the pump price for credit, but gave a discount for cash. I really never knew about legality, but had heard their contract with the credit card companies prohibited "charging more for using the credit card" but that didn't prohibit them from posting a "normal" price, then giving a discount for cash.

I thought it was illegal too, but i see it all over, even on the interstate here in SC, some signs actually rotate or flip between the cash and credit price, its not really a secret?

The price is not only due to speculators but also to the demand caused by increased economic activity. $3.499 regular, $3.839 Diesel although with cash I pay $3.779, down almost 10% in about two months.
