Looking at a 1937 Allis Chalmers WF for sale nearby

Saw this tractor locally with a for sale sign. Haven't contacted owner yet. Investigated, it's the 'unstyled' variety, serial 262. All there, not running, tires shot, very rusty, can still just barely see logo on sides, gauges smashed. Been ignored for years, probably a good start for a refurbish.

Are these tractors of any interest to collectors/enthusiasts? I would make him a low offer just to put it in my yard as yard art. But it would be a shame to see it gradually rot in my yard if it was of any value or interest, since as is it is restoreable. Piece of junk or precious old machine?

WFs are pretty nice and not nearly as common as some other AC tractors. That said, antique tractor value is not high. It would probably be a fun restore and a useful utility machine. I poked around the internet and found typical values of a few hundred dollars for parts tractors, $1000 to $2000 for running machines in rough shape, maybe $3000 for a high quality tractor and maybe $4000 to $6000 for almost museum quality. You probably won't get your money back but if I was a collector I would much prefer a WF to a WC, WD, etc. If I wanted a tractor to actually use, I'd get a WD. But I see you already have a Super A. (I'd get rid of the Super A but I was always an AC guy.)

I'm not sure exactly the engine but, yes it's a WC with a wide front end and I think the styled models had slightly different sheet metal.

My friend Google says I'm thinking of an RC. WF is a different animal. Maybe a standard tread WC.

I Googled a WF, all that I could find was labeled WC...

How about a picture of the WF model you're referring to, the one you're interested in buying, or any other, just for reference. I like old iron...

Mind you, according to them the WF serial number you've provided doesn't gybe. And the WF started in '38.

It's junk. Probably not worth restoring unless you're a serious AC tractor collector.

If you really want it, offer a few hundred bucks.
