Most loader manuals will list specifics for counterweight...even the little BX series recommend 400lbs on the 3pt, and they can lift a fraction of what something like an L4701 can.

And one thing that are hard on axel, driving fast whit heavy load on the FEL. If you have dampening it really saves the front axel but its still hard.

sorry for the hijack...But Gmbart come over and sit on my tractor before you pass judgement. FYI I have had my pressure tested to be sure it was at spec.
I am not saying cwt is not a good thing but there is only so much weight that a FEL will lift regardless of how much you have on the back.

Congrats on your new tractor...looks to be in real nice condition

I didn't pass judgement, just stating facts. Your tractor can't change the laws of geometry, physics and mathematics.

If you have no weight on the 3pt, you're adding wear and tear to the front axles when you use the FEL. Adding weight to the rear tires simply allows you to put more weight on the front axles before the rear tires get light...which is the worst possible scenario for the front axles.

Some folks don't believe those facts (even though most FEL manuals are specific about the topic), which is fine, but giving a new tractor owner advice which can cause expensive long-term damage to their machine isn't really in the spirit

In fact, the Kubota manual for the LA854 loader on your tractor is very specific in stating that counterweight and tire ballast need to be used for stability and safety. They go on to state that if you have a heavy 3pt implement tire ballast is not necessary. Nowhere do they state that it's safe to use tire ballast without 3pt counterweight...there's a reason for that.
